Fine Print & FAQ
BOOKING APPOINTMENTS
We take both walk-ins and appointments at Trim. However, we highly recommend booking an appointment whenever possible, as we are not always able to accommodate walk-ins.
When you make an appointment, that time is guaranteed especially and only for you. However, please keep in mind that we are often booked back-to-back. If you are 15+ minutes late, we will still do our very best to accommodate all or some of your services, but unfortunately we are not always able to do so. We recommend planning to arrive 5-10 minutes early to account for traffic, parking and pre-service consultation.
For services of $30 or more, and all services booked online, we require a credit card number in order to secure your appointment time.
CANCELLATION
We require 4-hour notice for any cancellations. Appointments scheduled between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. must be cancelled the night before. If you do not come to your appointment, or if you cancel without at least 4 hours notice, we reserve the right to charge 50% of the total of scheduled services.
GIFT CARDS
Trim gift cards are treated like cash. They may be used towards services and retail purchases at either of our locations. Gift cards may not be exchanged for cash, and they cannot be replaced if lost, stolen, or used without authorization. They never expire, so even if you misplace yours, it’ll never be too late to come back and use it.
MAINTENANCE PLANS
Our maintenance plans are non-refundable and non-transferable (we’re pretty sure you wouldn’t want to, anyway). Please see our Services Page for more information on our maintenance packages.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: I’ve never waxed before. Where do I start?
A: There are a few things to consider before making your appointment. If you are currently shaving, it is recommended that you allow your hair to grow out for at least two weeks. Because the hair grows in three stages, we want to make sure that as much hair as possible is grown out. Picture the length of a five o'clock shadow, or an eyelash. That's about what you're looking for—hair that's softer and not too short. If it is too short, it will be more painful and nearly impossible to get all the hair out. Mild exfoliation at least 3 days prior to your waxing is encouraged. This removes build-up around the follicle, making the hair easier and less painful to remove. If you are sensitive to pain, many waxing clients take an aspirin, or have a drink (we don’t advise both) 45 minutes prior to the service. Another alternative is a numbing topical treatment. We sell both a gentle exfoliant and a numbing treatment at the salon (we're also BYOB).
Q: It’s after hours and I need to cancel my 9 a.m. appointment. How can I reach you?
A: Unfortunately we don’t yet have answering machines set up, and we do not offer online cancellation. Any appointments scheduled between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. must be cancelled the night before, or it will be considered a billable no-show/cancellation.
Q: I’m a man interested in getting waxed for the first time. What is included in your Speedo, or male Brazilian, service?
A: The male Brazilian wax, or "Speedo," includes the removal of the hair around the scrotum and penis, and optionally the hair around the anus--but not the hair on the buttocks themselves. We perform head-to-toe custom-tailored waxing for all genders, so if you'd like to add on anything you don’t see on the menu, we can do that, too. NOTE: If you haven’t waxed before, you should also read the above FAQ detailing a few things to consider before making your appointment.
Q: How long should I wait between waxes?
A: The duration between waxes should be between from 2-6 weeks, depending on the person, their needs, and how fast the hair grows back. Consult your esthetician to decide what’s best for you.
Q: I’m interested in doing anal bleaching or kitty brightening. What is the process, and what type of product do you use?
A: The two services use different products and processes. The anal brightening product we carry is a safe, gentle treatment that does not brighten the skin to a lighter degree than one's own natural skin tone, and it does not contain Hydroquinone. It is not a one-time service with instant results, but rather an at-home treatment that gradually alters the skin pigmentation. The results may last for a month or more, depending on the cause of the discoloration. It does not brighten the skin that has already grown to the surface, so gentle exfoliation is encouraged to help the skin regenerate faster. Hair removal of the treated area is strongly encouraged, but shaving is not ideal as it promotes hyperpigmentation, or darkening, of the skin. There are no major restrictions after the service, though tanning is not encouraged, as it will probably cause the skin to darken. The product is $50 plus tax. While we do offer the option to start the brightening process in the salon as an add-on to bikini wax services, we highly recommend simply buying the product for at-home use, as the application is very quick and easy. "Kitty brightening," or lavia brightening, is done with a genital cosmetic colorant, or skin dye, called My New Pink Button. It comes in various shades of pink/peach. You apply it to the skin on your labia, let it sit for 30 seconds, and wash it off. It's easiest to do in the shower. The product is $50 plus tax.
Q: I don’t see the waxing service I need on your menu. Will you still do it?
A: Of course! We do head-to-toe, custom-tailored waxing for all genders. Just tell our front desk staff what you’d like to have done, and consult with your esthetician at your visit.
Q: Which is better—waxing or threading?
A: Neither is better than the other across the board. It depends on the person and their skin type. Some people are more sensitive to waxing and others to threading. Consult with your esthetician, or try them both, to find out which works best for you.
Q: I love the look and feel of the Trim space—do you rent it out for events?
A: We are BYOB, and we’re happy to accommodate private parties, along with any entertainment, drinks, and food you’d like! We charge a closing fee dependent on the size of your group—call either of our locations or email info@trimwax.com for more information.
Q: I had a great/disappointing experience at Trim, and I want to share it with management. How can I contact the main office?
A: We value your feedback immensely! Send your questions, compliments, or complaints to info@trimwax.com.
