After-Trim Care
safe is sexy
In the first 24-48 hours after your hair removal service, the area that was treated may be more sensitive than usual. The following are some tips for a healthy, comfortable after-wax experience that will help your skin stay smooth and clear.
Be kind to your skin and avoid using cleansers, moisturizers or any skin care products that contain acids (i.e., alpha hydroxyl, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, etc.). Although these acidic ingredients remove the dead outer layers of skin, they may cause an adverse reaction - and that’s not pretty! - after a bikini wax or Brazilian wax or any hair removal depending on the sensitivity of your skin.
Avoid ultra-violet rays from tanning beds and/or sunbathing. Always wear proper UV protection. There are places you NEVER want a sunburn.
Resist the sauna and steam room, just for a day or two.
Hold off on taking hot baths/showers for at least two hours. Gently wash the area with an antibacterial soap in lukewarm water. Use a cold compress to help soothe the skin if you feel any discomfort.
Medical experts recommend abstaining from sexual activity for the first 48 hours after any type of bikini wax, so plan accordingly. This time period is when your body is most susceptible to outside bacteria, which can potentially cause an infection.
After the first 48 hours, we recommend daily exfoliation to help prevent ingrown hairs. As with sunburn, it can be extremely uncomfortable to have an ingrown hair in a sensitive area. We have a number of exfoliating products available for purchase in our salon boutique.
